Beautiful 1940’s Steel and Rose Gold Rolex Oyster ‘Bubbleback’ Gents Vintage Watch

The Overview

Only 3 or 4 vintage watches have achieved iconic status and the Rolex Bubbleback is one of them.

This is an extremely rare and highly collectable steel & rose gold Rolex Oyster Bubbleback dating from the late 1940’s. The provenance polished steel & rose gold (bezel) case is in excellent condition with only the most minor signs of wear. The original Rolex signed slightly off-white dial has been professionally refinished to the highest possible standard and is classically late art-deco. The applied yellow gold hour batons with alternating Arabic hour numbers along with the yellow gold dauphine hands (blued steel second hand) are perfectly framed by the extremely rare rose gold bezel. The original & very rare steel Rolex Oyster signed screw down winding crown is again in excellent condition. The very high grade Rolex signed perpetual ‘chronometer’ standard movement is again in excellent condition and has just been fully serviced by our professional watchmaker. To complete this beautiful piece we’ve added a new, high quality, dark brown Hirsch and Sonning Vintage Watches crocodile skin strap with gold plated Hirsch buckle.

As many will know, when Rolex first made a perpetual (automatic) movement they had to redesign the case (previously they had a flat caseback and they created the rounded style) due to its size, hence the phrase ‘bubble back’. This is one of if not the most collectable Rolex watch.

My asking price is below the value for a watch of this condition and rarity, particularly with the continual rise in value of vintage watches of this high quality. In view of the high grade Swiss movement, I will include a three month written guarantee on the movement, which is long enough for you to assess the working order.
