Beautiful 1981 Steel & Gold Rolex Oyster Datejust ‘Turn-O-Graph’ Quick-Set Gents Vintage Watch

The Overview

This is a simply stunning Rolex Oyster Date-Just (Quick Date Set Model) ‘Turn-O-Graph’ dating from 1981. The Turn-O-Graph is often described as the original sports watch and has a close association with the United States Air Force ‘Thunderbird’ squadron. The solid steel & gold (bezel and crown) case is in excellent condition with only the most minor signs of wear – there is no evidence of incorrect tool use on the teeth of the case back. The original champagne pearlescent Rolex signed dial is untouched and just classically Rolex. The applied gold hour batons and the original gold hands provide a soft contrast to the dial and are perfectly framed by the rotating gold bezel. The gold Rolex signed Oyster crown does show wear but is working perfectly. The very high grade Rolex signed Chronometer standard automatic movement has just been serviced by my professional watchmaker. To complete this beautiful watch we’ve added a new, super high quality dark brown Hirsch ‘London’ alligator skin strap with gold plated Hirsch buckle. This is a simply beautiful piece and if history is any judge it will only increase in value.

My asking price is below the value for a watch of this condition and rarity, particularly with the continual rise in value of vintage watches of this high quality. In view of the high grade Swiss movement, I will include a twelve month written guarantee on the movement, which is long enough for you to assess the working order.

The inside back is signed ‘Montres Rolex SA Geneva Switzerland Patented Stainless Steel’ and the case number of ‘16000’. The serial number is 6.5 million which dates it to 1981 (the full serial number will of course be given to the buyer).
