Collector Condition 1950’s Jumbo Size (35 mm’s) Solid 18ct Rose Gold Rolex Precision ‘Chronometer Standard’ Gents Vintage Watch

The Overview

Rolex began making dress watches in the late 1930’s and most came with mid-size cases (30 mm’s across the case excluding the crown and full size (33 mm’s across the case). They also had the 17 jewel movement and standard case style. A few were made with 34 mm cases and even less in 35 mm’s and still less in rose rather than yellow. The cases were usually standard and not the hugely desireable ‘bull horn’ lug style….

This Oversize (35 mm’s) solid 18ct rose gold bull horn lug Rolex Precision dates from the 1940’s. The solid 18ct gold case is in excellent condition with only the most minimal signs of wear – the bull horn lugs create a stunning look (the watch also has the original rose gilt ‘Thimble’ winding crown… The original Rolex signed ivory/cream Rolex signed subsidiary second dial has been professionally refinished to the highest possible standard and is just stunning. The painted gold Roman Numeral hour numbers with arrowhead batons in between along with the original gilt hands and subsidiary second dial are classically late art-deco. All Rolex Precision movements are high quality but extremely rarely this watch has the 18 rubie ‘Chronometer’ standard manual wind movement which is the highest quality they made this time. The movement is in excellent condition and has just been fully serviced by our professional watchmaker. To complete this wonderful piece we’ve added a new, high quality, dark brown Hirsch and Sonning Vintage Watches crocodile skin strap with a Hirsch gold plated buckle.

Watches of this quality rarely come up for sale and in the Burlington Arcade would be priced way in excess of £10,000.00…

My asking price is below the value for a watch of this condition and rarity, particularly with the continual rise in value of vintage watches of this high quality. In view of the high grade Swiss movement, I will include a three month written guarantee on the movement, which is long enough for you to assess the working order.
