Museum Condition and Rarity 1920’s 9ct Gold Rolex with the Original Box and Guarantee Ladies Vintage Watch

The Overview

I love all the watches in our collection but every now and again we find something truly exceptional. Original paperwork and/or the Original Box are found on 1 in 50 – 100 watches over 50 years old. To find a watch from the 1920’s or early 1930’s with the original box let alone the original guarantee is virtually unheard of (after over 2000 watch sales this is the earliest example by 20 years or so….

This is a beautiful example of a solid 9ct gold ladies Rolex Genex in solid 9ct gold. The beautiful tonneau style case with delicately engraved sides is in excellent condition with only the most signs of wear. The original Rolex signed crisp white dial has been professionally refinished to the highest possible standards and is classically art-deco. The guilloche (patterned) dial with painted black Arabic numbers and railway line style minute markers along with the delicate blued steel hands create both a striking and understated look. The original manual wind movement is again in excellent condition and has just been fully serviced by our professional watchmaker. The original Rolex signed box is in very good condition though there is a missing label on the bottom right. The original Rolex signed guarantee document is again in excellent condition and the reference of 502556 matches the case back.

This is probably the only Rolex from this period with the original box and papers for sale in the world at the moment.

Please bear in mind this watch is around 90 years old and whilst fine for special occasions we wouldn’t recommend it for daily wear. Again, the accuracy of the watch will be 1 to 3 minutes a day.

Watches of this quality and rarity in this condition are highly sought after – if history is any judge they will only increase in value.

As mentioned, it has just been serviced by my watchmaker and, in view of the high-grade Swiss movement, I will include a 3 month guarantee on the movement which is long enough for you to assess the working order.
