Stunning 1960’s Solid 18ct Gold Jaeger le Coultre Gents Vintage Watch

The Overview

Founded in 1833, Jaeger Le Coultre have long been acknowledged as one of the premier watchmakers in terms of their extremely high quality movements, their effortlessly elegant design and innovation. They made the iconic Reverso in the 1930’s and followed this up with the wrist alarm Powermatic and the Memovox… They also produced some of the most beautiful ‘day’ or ‘dress’ watches and this solid 18ct gold (yellow) is a wonderful example.

This full size (33 mm’s across excluding the winding/setting crown) case is in stunning condition with only the most minor signs of wear (very minor ding on the outside case back). The original Jaeger signed slightly off-white dial has been professionally refinished to the highest possible standard and is classically Jaeger. The applied gold hour batons (with black central line) along with the original gold hands provide the softest contrast to the dial and blend perfectly with the gleaming case. Jaeger movements are amongst the highest quality in the world and this Jaeger signed manual wind is in excellent condition and has just been fully serviced by our professional watchmaker. To complete this delicious piece we’ve added a new, very high quality, dark brown Hirsch and Sonning Vintage Watches crocodile skin strap with a gold plated Hirsch buckle.

My asking price is below the value for a watch of this condition and rarity, particularly with the continual rise in value of vintage watches of this high quality. In view of the high grade Swiss movement, I will include a three month written guarantee on the movement, which is long enough for you to assess the working order.

The original Jaeger signed slightly off-white dial has been professionally refinished to the highest possible standard and is classically Jaeger. The applied gold hour batons (with black central line) along with the original gold hands provide the softest contrast to the dial and blend perfectly with the gleaming case.

I’ve struggled to capture the beauty and colours of this dial so have taken a picture outside the case. Any marks are just reflections.

The dial is signed ‘Jaeger le Coultre’ and ‘Swiss’.

The Conclusion

This is a beautiful example of a watch from one of horology’s most famous names and will, if history is any judge, provide an excellent financial investment as well as a possession to treasure and enjoy. I will provide an insurance valuation in excess of my asking price. Please appreciate the difficulty of photographing this piece, it looks even better in real life. Subject to your location I’ll happily show the watch.
