Stunning and Super Rare 1954 ‘Faceted’ Bezel Rolex Oyster Perpetual Gents Vintage Watch

The Overview

This is a beautiful example of the Rolex Oyster Perpetual dating from 1954 and extremely rarely it has the faceted bezel – we’ve bought well over 1,000 Oysters and this is the first example we’ve had. The solid steel case is in excellent condition with only the most minimal signs of wear. The original Rolex signed crisp white dial had been professionally refinished to the highest possible standards and classically Rolex. The applied steel batons and steel hands (blued steel second hand) provide a lovely contrast to the dial and blend perfectly with the faceted bezel. The very high grade ‘chronometer’ standard ‘Butterfly Rotor’ Rolex signed automatic movement is again in very good condition and has just been fully serviced by our professional watchmaker. To complete this beautiful and extremely rare piece we’ve added a new, high quality, black Hirsch and Sonning Vintage Watches crocodile skin strap with steel buckle.

Watches of this quality and in this condition are extremely rare and highly sought after – if history is any judge they will only increase in value.

As mentioned, it has just been serviced by my watchmaker and, in view of the high-grade Swiss movement, I will include a 3 month guarantee on the movement which is long enough for you to assess the working order.

The Case

The solid steel case is in excellent condition with only the most minimal signs of wear. The case measures 33 mm’s across, excluding the Rolex signed crown, and 41 mm’s long including the lugs. The inside caseback is signed ‘Montres Rolex SA Geneva Swiss’ and the case number is ‘6586’ – Rolex used the same casebacks for the majority of the Oyster range at this time and there are 2 case numbers crossed out; this is relatively common and we guarantee it’s authenticity. The date stamp is IV.54 dating it to 1954.
