Super Rare 1940’s Oversize Steel Rolex Precision ‘Bull Horn’ Lug Case Sub-Second Gents Vintage Watch

The Overview

This is a beautiful example of the solid steel Rolex Precision dating from the 1940’s – steel Precisions, especially with this case style and larger size, are extremely rare and highly sought after… The steel case is in very good condition with only minor signs of wear – there are a couple of very minor dings and signs of corrosion on the outside case back. The very rare and original Rolex signed crisp white dial has been professionally refinished to the highest possible standard and is classically art-deco – there is a very minor dimple on the dial by the number ’10’. The raised gold ‘dot’ hour batons with alternating Arabic numbers along with the original gold hands provide the softest contrast to the dial and gleaming steel case. The high grade Rolex signed manual wind movement has just been fully serviced by my watchmaker. To complete this beautiful watch we’ve added a new, high quality Hirsch and Sonning Vintage Watches dark brown crocodile skin strap with a steel Hirsch buckle.

My asking price is below the value for a watch of this condition and rarity, particularly with the continual rise in value of vintage watches of this high quality. In view of the high grade Swiss movement, I will include a three month written guarantee on the movement, which is long enough for you to assess the working order.

The Conclusion

This is a rare and highly collectable vintage watch from one of horology’s most famous names and will, if history is any judge, provide an excellent financial investment as well as a possession to treasure and enjoy. I will provide an insurance valuation in excess of my asking price. Please appreciate the difficulty of photographing this piece, it looks even better in real life. Subject to your location I’ll happily show the watch.
