Super Rare 1953 Oversize (35 mm) Rolex Oyster Precision 6424 Gents Vintage Watch

The Overview

This is a stunning example of the super rare Rolex Oyster 6424 dating from 1953. The 6424 was the largest Oyster case Rolex made at this time coming in at 35 mm across excluding the Rolex signed crown (the standard size in the 1950’s was 30 to 33 mm…). The oversize case is in excellent condition with only the most minimal signs of wear. The original steel pearlescent dial has been professionally refinished to the highest standard and is classically Rolex. The applied steel hour batons, original steel hands (blued steel second hand) flow into the dial and are perfectly framed by the gleaming steel bezel. The very high grade Rolex signed manual wind movement is again in very good condition and has just been serviced by our professional watchmaker. To complete this wonderful piece we’ve added a new, high quality, black Hirsch & Sonning Vintage Watches crocodile skin strap with a steel Hirsch buckle.

Watches of this quality and in this condition are extremely rare and highly sought after – if history is any judge they will only increase in value.

As mentioned, it has just been serviced by my watchmaker and, in view of the high-grade Swiss movement, I will include a 3 month guarantee on the movement which is long enough for you to assess the working order

The Conclusion

This is a beautiful example of a watch from one of horology’s most famous names and will, if history is any judge, provide an excellent financial investment as well as a possession to treasure and enjoy. I will provide an insurance valuation in excess of my asking price. Please appreciate the difficulty of photographing this piece, it looks even better in real life. Subject to your location I’ll happily show the watch.
