Almost Unique 1951 19mm Solid 9ct Gold B&S Rolex Bracelet
I’ve tried to research this bracelet and have come up with the maker, B&S or BH Britton & Sons (closed in 1973), but can only find one other bracelet which is on a Rolex Tudor in the British Museum. Rolex used a number of bracelet makers over the years before taking it in-house in the 1990’s. This dress style bracelet measures just over 17.2cm at the maximum setting on the ladder clasp. The Rolex crown on the clasp has worn with age and the underside is signed ‘ROLEX B&S’ and has the Anchor for the Birmingham Assay Office and age letter of ‘R’ dating it to 1951. We believe it would’ve been used for the larger Rolex Precision dress watches or Oysters. It’s a wonderful piece of history from one of the great watch houses.
