We are working with a UK based collector who has asked us to market a selection of his watches. As part of the offer each watch has had a full service and refurbishment by the UK’s leading watchmaker, Steven Hale Watch Restoration. Each watch will come with a 2 year guarantee from Steve Hale and a lifetime guarantee on the authenticity by Sonning Vintage Watches.
This is a stunning example of the Rolex Oyster Datejust from 1987/89 (it’s an ‘R’ serial which covers these years) – it’s also the quick-set model allowing the date to be changed without moving the hands around dial. The solid steel and white gold (fluted bezel) case is in excellent condition with only the most minor signs of wear. The original Rolex signed champagne/steel dial is untouched and in excellent condition. The applied steel hour batons and steel hands provide the softest contrast to the dial and are perfectly framed by the gleaming solid white gold fluted bezel. The very high grade Rolex signed automatic movement is again in excellent condition and has just been fully serviced by SHWR. The watch sits on a genuine Rolex Jubilee bracelet from 1997 (Z clasp code) which is very good condition but does have some of the expected sag you’d expect from a bracelet of this age – it is safe and after a soft polish looks beautiful.
My asking price is below the value for a watch of this condition and rarity, particularly with the continual rise in value of vintage watches of this high quality.
