Vacheron & Constantin are recognised as the world’s oldest watchmaker and were founded in 1755. Throughout their history they have created some of the world’s most beautiful and sought after watches and this stunning 1945 solid 18ct yellow gold piece is a wonderful example. Very rarely is the oversize model – the average size of a man’s watch at this time was 32/33mm and this one’s 36mm which is much more in line with today’s style – the case is also in excellent condition with only the most minor signs of wear. It’s also the Bull Horn lug model which was the most sought after design at this time. The original Vacheron signed dial is just stunning. The gold alternating applied Roman numeral hour numbers and gold dot hour batons along with the gold hands are perfectly framed by the slim case. The very high grade Vacheron signed manual wind movement is again in excellent condition and has just been serviced by SHWR. We also have the Vacheron & Constantin Extract of Archives from 2020 confirming the authenticity and provenance. The watch sits on a new, high quality, Hirsch tan camel skin strap with Hirsch gold plated buckle.
Vacheron, in terms of quality, are very much in the same league as Patek Philippe. This is a stunning early example from one of the best watchmakers in the World.
