This is a simply beautiful example of the Rolex Oyster from 1959 in the full size case – this was the cross over period from a mid-size case (30 mm across excluding the crown) and the full size case (33 mm). This is still a relatively small, in terms of today’s watches, case, hence we’ve listed it as a unisex piece. The original Rolex signed steel screw back case is in excellent condition with only the most minimal signs of wear. The original Rolex signed ivory/cream dial has been professionally refinished to the highest possible standards and is just beautiful and very much of its time. The spear head batons with alternating Arabic numbers are in gold (batons are in mushroom with gold outer line) along with the original gold with mint insert dauphine hands. The super defined ‘railway line’ style outer minute markers complete the late art-deco look. The original high grade Rolex signed manual wind movement is again in excellent condition and has just been fully serviced by our professional watchmaker. To complete this watch we’ve added a new, high quality, dark brown Hirsch and Sonning Vintage Watches crocodile skin strap with a choice of steel or gold plated buckles.
As mentioned, it has just been serviced by my watchmaker and, in view of the high-grade Swiss movement, I will include a 12 month guarantee on the movement which is long enough for you to assess the working order.
