The Rolex Day-Date was the original and, to this day, their flagship watch – one of the many famous advertisements for this watch featured a Boardroom table with the strap line of ‘Men who make decisions wear a Day-Date (apologies for the sexist nature…).
This example was made in 1964 (serial 1.71 million) and the solid 18ct yellow gold case is in excellent condition with only minor signs of wear (very minor ding on the caseback). The original and untouched champagne dial is just magnificent. The applied gold hour batons along with the gold hands blend perfectly with the dial and are beautifully framed by the solid 18ct fluted bezel. The super high grade Rolex signed chronometer standard movement is again in excellent condition and has just been serviced by our professional watchmaker. The watch sits on a new, super high quality, dark brown Hirsch ‘London’ alligator strap with Hirsch gold plated buckle. We also have a genuine Rolex Day-Date box, inner and outer which is in excellent condition aside from a tear in the cardboard outer box.
I’ve also included a picture of the watch on a genuine but later (around 1995) solid 18ct gold Rolex President bracelet with hidden deployment clasp. We currently have this bracelet for sale and if bought with the watch we’d reduce from £4,750 to £3,750.
