Created in 1945, the Rolex Air-King joined the Air Series of watches in the Rolex range – the Air Lion, Air Giant and Air Tiger – all released to commemorate the Royal Air Force. Rolex then used the Air-King to cover all previous models. This example was sold in 1980 and is the gold filled model – heavy gold plating over steel. The case is in very good condition with only minor signs of wear. The original silver pearlescent dial with gold hands and hour batons is perfectly framed by the smooth gold filled bezel – I’ve also taken a WhatsApp video and if you’d like a copy please advise your mobile. The original Rolex signed automatic movement is again in excellent condition and has just been fully serviced by our professional watchmaker. Very rarely we also have the original gold filled ‘rivet’ Rolex bracelet – these are nearly always replaced and it’s only the second one we’ve ever had. The bracelet’s in excellent condition and a good size – 12 links but please advise your wrist size when ordering. We also have excellent provenance:
- The original Rolex papers showing the sale being made in 1980
- A period correct Rolex box – inner and outer
- The Rolex wallet
Finding an original bracelet and the paperwork is extremely rare on any watch over 15 years old, to find them both is a first for us.
