This is a beautiful example of the iconic Rolex Datejust from 1968 (made) and 1969 (sold). The steel and solid gold (fluted bezel) case is in excellent condition with only the most minor signs of wear – I’ll be taking the case back to SHWR next week to have the engraving filled and polished out. The original Rolex signed steel pearlescent dial is again in excellent condition and absolutely beautiful. The applied gold hour batons and hands provide the softest contrast to the dial and are perfectly framed by the solid gold fluted bezel. The very high grade chronometer standard automatic movement is again in excellent condition and has just been serviced by our professional watchmaker. The watch sits on what we believe is the original steel and solid gold Rolex Jubilee bracelet. It’s in excellent aesthetic condition but does have significant sag and stretch – it is safe though. The end pieces have the reference of 55 and the deployment clasp 6251H and age reference of 1 69 dating it to quarter 1 of 1969. Very rarely we have excellent provenance:
- The Your Rolex Oyster guarantee document with punched serial number
- The manually completed (by Rolex) Chronometer Certificate
- The Rolex service record from 2015 – card, brochure and invoice
To find any history from a watch of this age is extremely rare and to have all this and the original bracelet is almost unheard of. We’ll include a very high quality alligator skin strap as well if required.
