We are working with a UK based collector who has asked us to market a selection of his watches. As part of the offer each watch has had a full service and refurbishment by the UK’s leading watchmaker, Steven Hale Watch Restoration. Each watch will come with a 2 year guarantee from Steve Hale and a lifetime guarantee on the authenticity by Sonning Vintage Watches.
Vacheron Constantin are one of the most respected watchmakers in the World and are recognised as the first brand to produce a wristwatch as against pocket watch (men had pocket watches and ladies wristwatches). Founded by a 24 year old, Jean-Marc Vacheron, in 1755. They’re known as part of the holy trinity of Patek and AP…
This oversize, 35.5mm across, solid 18ct rose gold model would’ve looked huge in the 40’s when a gents watch averaged 31mm… The rare and very desirable ‘tear drop’ lug case is in near faultless condition. The original and we believe untouched Vacheron signed champagne dial is classically late art-deco. The applied rose gold Roman numeral hour markers with rose ‘dot’ markers along with the rose gold stick hands and sub-second create a stunning look. The original Vacheron signed manual wind movement is again in excellent condition and has just been fully serviced by Stephen Hale (around £850). The watch sits on a new, dark brown, calf skin strap with non-Vacheron rose gold plated buckle. We also have an extract of archives from Vacheron confirming it was manufactured in 1942.
We only find 1 or 2 of these a year and they are amongst the most desirable watches in our range.
