The Rolex Submariner is arguably their most famous model. Introduced in 1953, it’s been the staple of divers, Presidents, movie stars, oil rig workers and just anybody who wants a watch for all occasions. A non-date watch up until the 1680 was introduced in 1967 it was initially a very poor seller – why would a diver need to know the date…. Now the date accounts for around 65% of their sales.
This example was made in 1978 and is beautifully original. The solid steel case is in very good condition but does have signs of regular and careful wear – (we haven’t polished it but it will have been at some point). The original and stunning matt dial is again in excellent condition and the lume has aged to a lovely ivory/white (we believe the bezel insert is also original and the pearl has aged to the same colour). The very high-grade Rolex signed automatic movement is again in excellent condition and has serviced by our professional watchmaker. The bracelet references are 580/93150 end pieces and the deployment reference is 93150 with the age reference of I3 dating to around 1984. We provide a 12 month guarantee on the movement.
