The Rolex Prince marked the second significant launch for Rolex in the 1920’s/1930’s. It followed the World’s first over the counter waterproof watch, the Oyster. The Prince was the World’s first over the counter Chronometer standard movement and one of the earliest rectangular cased watches. It became known as the Doctor’s watch due to it’s accuracy, large sub-second dial and it was the gift of choice for wealthy patients to their Doctors.
This is the slightly later Brancard flared case model which is far more desirable due to it’s design and larger size. The solid silver case is in overall very good condition but does have a ding just by the 9 and 10 batons (there is an engraving on the caseback). The original Rolex signed silver dial has been professionally refinished to the highest possible standards and is stunning. The super high grade Rolex signed manual wind movement is again in excellent condition and has just been fully serviced by our professional watchmaker (please bear in mind this watch is just under 100 years old so isn’t robust enough for everyday wear and will gain/lose 1 to 2 minutes per day). The watch sits on a new, dark brown calf skin strap with non-Rolex steel buckle.
The Prince sits in the milestones of Rolex and is still made today in the Cellini brand. We will give a 12 month guarantee on the movement.
