Collector Condition 1940’s Mid-Size Steel and Rose Gold Le Coultre Complication Gents Vintage Watch

The Overview

We are working with a UK based collector who has asked us to market a selection of his watches. As part of the offer each watch has had a full service and refurbishment by the UK’s leading watchmaker, Steven Hale Watch Restoration. Each watch will come with a 2 year guarantee from Steve Hale and a lifetime guarantee on the authenticity by Sonning Vintage Watches.

This is one of most beautiful watches we’ve had for many a year. Made in the 1940’s, it’s a Le Coultre complication with day, date, month and moon phase features – a remarkable piece of engineering. The steel with a solid rose gold bezel case & crown is in near faultless condition. The original and untouched Le Coultre signed copper coloured dial is a work of art. The applied rose gold hour batons with numbers at the quarters along with the rose gold hands and large sub-second with moon phase is stunning. I’ve struggled to capture this so have done a video – please advise your WhatsApp number if you’d like to see it. The original Le Coultre signed manual wind movement is again in excellent condition and has just been serviced by SHWR. The watch sits on a new tan skin calf strap with steel buckle.

Whilst small by todays standards this is an extremely rare wristwatch from one of the industry’s major brands.

The Box, Papers and Sonning Warranty

As with the majority of pre-owned watches that are 10 years or older, this particular watch does not come with its original box and paperwork. The watch is 100% genuine and rest assured we provide a lifetime guarantee on the authenticity and provenance of all the watches we sell.

Although there is no original paperwork, we do provide a written invoice and 3 page insurance valuation with the pictures of the watch and all available reference numbers. We also give a 12 month warranty on all our watches. We also stock a good selection of vintage watch boxes to help complete your purchase.

The Conclusion

This is a rare and highly collectable vintage watch from one of horology’s most famous names and will, if history is any judge, provide an excellent financial investment as well as a possession to treasure and enjoy. I will provide an insurance valuation in excess of my asking price. Please appreciate the difficulty of photographing this piece, it looks even better in real life. Subject to your location I’ll happily show the watch.
