Collector Condition 1969 Jaeger le Coultre Memovox Gents Vintage Watch

The Overview

We are working with a UK based collector who has asked us to market a selection of his watches. As part of the offer each watch has had a full service and refurbishment by the UK’s leading watchmaker, Steven Hale Watch Restoration. Each watch will come with a 2 year guarantee from Steve Hale and a lifetime guarantee on the authenticity by Sonning Vintage Watches.

Jaeger le Coultre are one of the most famous names in watch and clock making with a history stretching back to 1833 and began making their own movements in the 1860’s. In the early 1900’s Jacques David Le Coultre joined forces with Edmond Jaeger to create Jaeger le Coultre. They are the most innovative of watchmakers starting with the famous ‘Reverso’ through to the Wrist Alarm and Memovox. Using the ‘bumper’ style automatic movement with one of the largest cases from the 1960’s (37mm excluding the crowns; the style was for 34/5mm watches) and the inner alarm dial they created a genuinely iconic piece.

This Memovox was made in 1969 and is in beautifully original condition. The solid steel case is excellent condition with only the most minor signs of wear – this is the large model and measures 37mm across excluding the crowns (the circle above the ‘x’ or ‘Memovox’ is for the peg that is used to sound the alarm). We believe the original ivory/cream steel centre Jaeger signed dial is untouched and is in overall excellent condition with only minor signs of wear. I’m always happy to do more pictures or send a wrist video with What’s App. The Memovox comes with 2 crowns, one to charge the automatic movement (re-charges when worn) and set the time and the other to charge a separate spring and set the alarm (the small black arrow in the centre of the dial) – very rarely the crowns are signed ‘JL’; most of these have been replaced by non-Jaeger crowns. The very high grade Jaeger signed automatic ‘Bumper’ movement is again in excellent condition and has just been serviced by SHWR. The watch sits on a new black croco-grain strap with steel Hirsch buckle.

This is a stunning example of an iconic watch from one of Switzerland’s premier watchmakers.
