The Rolex Viceroy was introduced by Rolex in the early 1940’s and had a fairly short run. The tonneau style case and port hole dial create a beautiful late art-deco look. This example was made in 1946 and the steel with solid gold bezel and crown case is in excellent condition with only a couple of minor dings on the outside caseback. The original jet black Rolex signed dial has been professionally refinished to the highest possible standard and is stunning. The heavy gilt/gold Arabic hour numbers along with the gold hands provide a lovely contrast to the dial and are perfectly framed by the solid gold bezel. The Rolex signed manual wind movement is again in excellent condition and has just been fully serviced by SHWR. To complete this watch we’ve added a new leather strap with genuine but later gold plated Rolex buckle. It would’ve originally been a gents watch but its size now makes it a unisex style.
This is a wonderful example of a rare and beautiful watch. Whilst robust we wouldn’t recommend it as an every day watch due to its age.
