The Rolex Day-Date was the original and, to this day, their flagship watch – one of the many famous advertisements for this watch featured a Boardroom table with the strap line of ‘Men who make decisions wear a Day-Date (apologies for the sexist nature…).
This example was made in 1960 (serial 1.39 million) and the solid 18ct yellow gold case is in excellent condition with only minor signs of wear – there are a few fairly very minor surface scratches. The original and untouched silver textured dial is original and we believe untouched. It’s also the Sigma dial (signified by the 2 ‘O’s’ either side of the T Swiss T) which means the applied gold batons are solid gold as against plated steel. There are a few minor marks around the dial but they’re very difficult to see with the naked eye. The super high grade Rolex signed chronometer standard movement is again in excellent condition and has just been serviced by our professional watchmaker. We have put a new, super high quality, dark brown ‘London’ alligator skin strap with gold plated buckle.
As few as 1 in 500 watches of this age have any original paperwork and this piece comes with the original Rolex guarantee and the original Rolex ‘President’ box.
In view of the high quality movement we will give a 12 month guarantee.
