We are working with a UK based collector who has asked us to market a selection of his watches. As part of the offer each watch has had a full service and refurbishment by the UK’s leading watchmaker, Steven Hale Watch Restoration. Each watch will come with a 2 year guarantee from Steve Hale and a lifetime guarantee on the authenticity by Sonning Vintage Watches.
Rolex made some of the most beautiful dress watches in the world during the 1940’s and 1950’s. They have become some of the most collectable and sought after watches in our range. Many were 30mm across the case, known as mid-size, and 33mm known as full size. Whilst still a little small for today’s fashions the simplicity and elegance means it looks great on the wrist. I’m always happy to send a wrist video on WhatsApp if needed.
This example was made in 1947 and the steel case is in overall excellent condition with only minor signs of wear – please note the steel ‘thimble’ winding crown – Rolex used these during this period and didn’t bring the Rolex signed winding crowns until the late 1950’s. The original slightly off-white Rolex signed dial has been professionally refinished to the highest possible standards and beautifully elegant. The alternating raised yellow hour batons and Arabic numbers along with the gold hands (blued steel second hand) create a stunning look. The high grade Rolex signed manual wind movement is again in very good condition and has just been fully serviced by SHWR. The watch sits on a new black Hirsch strap with later steel Rolex buckle.
Whilst robust we wouldn’t recommend wearing a watch of this age everyday.
