Rolex made some of the most beautiful dress watches in the world during the 1940’s and 1950’s. They have become some of the most collectable and sought after watches in our range. Many were 30mm across the case, known as mid-size, and 33mm known as full size. Just a few are known as oversize which is 34 or 35mm across the case excluding the winding crown.
This is a simply beautiful example of the oversize Rolex Precision dating from 1948 (serial number 624,802 on the outside case back). The solid steel & gold oversize case is in very good condition but does show signs of wear and a repair to one of the lugs. It’s extremely rare to find the Rolex crown and serial number on the outside case back as it’s usually worn off with wear and polishing. We often refinish dials from this period but every now and again they age beautifully and this particular style is one of the most sought after (we can have it refinished and it costs around £350). The inner minute ring and original gilt stick hands create a stunning post art-deco look – please also remember we take macro photography and on the wrist it looks wonderful. The high grade Rolex signed manual wind movement is again in very good condition and has just been fully serviced by our professional watchmaker (whilst this is a robust watch we wouldn’t recommend it for every day wear but it can worn regularly). To complete this beautiful piece we’ve added a new, super high quality, black Hirsch ‘London’ alligator strap with gold plated Hirsch buckle.
In view of the high quality movement we will give a 12 month guarantee on it.
