Originally formed in 1755, Vacheron Constantin are recognised as the oldest watchmaker in the World. They are still seen as one of the World’s greatest watchmakers with a reputation for creating some of the best watches ever made…

This Vacheron was made in 1942 and very rarely it’s the oversize model (35mm excluding the crown) – most men’s watches in the 1940’s were 31/32mm across which is to small for todays tastes. The steel and solid 14ct rose gold case is in excellent condition with only some minor wear on the case back (highlighted on the picture). The case style is known as ‘Tear Drop’ lug and is one of the most sought after designs. The watch also has a period correct rose gold ‘Thimble’ winding crown’ stunning. The original Vacheron  signed ivory/cream centre with light steel/grey outer dial has been professionally a few years ago and is in overall excellent condition – small amount of wear near the outer grey area around the 7 and 9 Hour Numbers. The slim rose gold hands with blued steel second hand match perfectly with the applied rose gold hour numbers and tear drop lugs. The extremely high grade Vacheron signed manual wind movement is again in excellent condition and has just been fully serviced by Steven Hale. The watch sits on a new, very high quality, black calf skin strap with a generic rose gold plated buckle. Whilst we don’t have the original paperwork (almost unheard of for a watch of this age) we do have what’s known as an Extract of Archives from Vacheron Constantin. This requires pictures and details of the watch being sent to Vacheron for the archive team to study and confirm everything is correct. All the references match.

This is a rare and important watch from one of the great Houses and will be a wonderful watch to own and enjoy. We also have a new, genuine Vacheron Constantin suede carry case.

The case measures 35mm across, excluding the rose gold thimble crown and 42mm long including the tear drop lugs. The inside case is signed ‘Vacheron Constantin’ and the case number is ‘274394’.

As with the majority of pre-owned watches that are 10 years or older, this particular watch does not come with its original box or paperwork. The watch is 100% genuine and rest assured we provide a lifetime guarantee on the authenticity and provenance of all the watches we sell.

Although there is no original paperwork, we do provide a written invoice and 3 page insurance valuation with the pictures of the watch and all available reference numbers.
