The Rolex Day-Date was the original and, to this day, their flagship watch – one of the many famous advertisements for this watch featured a Boardroom table with the strap line of ‘Men who make decisions wear a Day-Date (apologies for the sexist nature…).
This is also the quick date set model with the original Rolex punched papers.
We bought this one from the son of the original owner. His dad bought it in 1986 and only wore it for 2 years before he sadly passed away. His son has worn it occasionally ever since and there is a service mark in the inside case back dated 1993 – it would’ve almost certainly had a polish but it hasn’t been polished since and we haven’t polished it either. The case is in overall excellent condition with only a few minor surface scratches. The original and extremely rare black ‘tapestry’ dial is in excellent condition and one of the most beautiful dials Rolex made. The super high grade Rolex chronometer stand automatic movement is again in excellent condition and it’s just been serviced by our professional watchmaker. The watch sits on a new, super high quality black Hirsch ‘London’ alligator strap with Hirsch gold plated buckle.
At the time of listing we have a genuine solid 18ct gold yellow gold Rolex buckle and we also have the original solid 18ct gold Rolex President bracelet which is again very good condition with limited sag/stretch (these are around £14,000 from Rolex). I’d love to sell it with the original bracelet and will try and help on the joint price.
