Stunning 1933 Solid 9ct Gold Large Size Rectangular Case Rolex Gents Vintage Watch

The Overview

Well, this is where we began… This is a beautiful example of the large size rectangular case Rolex from around 1933. The solid 9ct gold case is in overall excellent condition with a few minor marks to the case sides (I’ve just noticed the picture of the non-crown case side has a dark shadow by the lug – this is only a shadow and not a hole) and a few very shallow dings to the case back. The original ivory/paper colour Rolex signed dial has been professionally refinished to the highest possible standards and is classically art-deco. The exaggerated hour numbers, sub-second dial and blued steel hands. The Rolex signed manual wind movement is again in very good condition and has just been fully serviced by our watchmaker – please not, watches of this age are not robust for everyday wear and will be 2 to 3 minutes plus or minus a day. To complete this beautiful piece we’ve added a black crocodile skin strap with gold plated buckle.

Watches of this age and in particular size are extremely rare and we will give a 12 month guarantee on the movement.

The Case

The solid 9ct gold case is in overall excellent condition with a few minor marks to the case sides (I’ve just noticed the picture of the non-crown case side has a dark shadow by the lug – this is only a shadow and not a hole) and a few very shallow dings to the case back.

The case measures 26mm across, excluding the winding crown and 37mm long including the lugs (this would’ve been huge for the time and but is now a good size gents watch). The outside case has the serial ’10?70′ and the inside case is signed ‘Rolex 25 World Records’, ‘Geneva Suisse’, ‘RWC Ltd’ and has the appropriate hallmarks for solid 9ct gold.
