We are working with a UK based collector who has asked us to market a selection of his watches. As part of the offer each watch has had a full service and refurbishment by the UK’s leading watchmaker, Steven Hale Watch Restoration. Each watch will come with a 2 year guarantee from Steve Hale and a lifetime guarantee on the authenticity by Sonning Vintage Watches.
IWC are one of the most respected watchmakers in the World. Founded in 1868, it has become a Premier League brand for both the super quality movements and classic design. This 1955 IWC dress watch sums up the brand. The beautiful solid 18ct yellow gold ‘Bombe’ style case is in excellent condition with only the most minimal signs of wear – Bombe or Bombay cases were used by a number of brands including Rolex and refer to the likeness of the case to the top of a French bomb (please also note the fish on the crown – very rare to find a genuine IWC crown on a watch of this age). The original and we believe untouched ivory/cream dial is classically elegant; the applied gold hour batons and gold dauphine hands create a soft contrast to the dial and are perfectly framed by the stunning case. The movement and inside case pictures were taken at our watchmakers hence the different background. The very high grade IWC manual wind movement is again in excellent condition and has just been serviced by SHWR. The watch sits on a new, high quality dark brown Hirsch crocograin strap with yellow gold plated Hirsch buckle.
Watches of this quality and in this condition are extremely rare to find. I’ve struggled to capture the true beauty of this piece so I’ve done a wrist video – please advise your What’s App number if you’d like to see it.
