This is a stunning example of the Rolex Oyster Datejust from 1978 (serial 5.08million). The solid steel and yellow gold (fluted bezel) case is in excellent condition with only the most minor signs of wear. The original Rolex signed pearlescent steel dial is untouched and in excellent condition – I’m always happy to send a Whatsapp wrist video if required. The applied gold hour batons and gold hands provide the softest contrast to the dial and are perfectly framed by the gleaming gold fluted bezel. The very high grade Rolex signed automatic ‘chronometer’ standard movement is again in excellent condition and has just been fully serviced by our professional watchmaker. The watch sits on a genuine Rolex steel and gold Jubilee bracelet from 1998. There is some minor sag but it’s in overall excellent condition (these cost around £1,350 new…).
My asking price is below the value for a watch of this condition and rarity, particularly with the continual rise in value of vintage watches of this high quality. In view of the high grade Swiss movement, I will include a 12 month written guarantee on the movement.
